Trouple Shooting RapidWeaver

Conflict - RapidWeaver - Stacks - TroupleShooting - Solution

Had this strange thing - Explorer issue as usual - youtube videoes in a lightbox was added to the bottom of a page. No problem in Safari.

Plugins used:
Stacks
PlusKit

Stacks used:
TopBox
uTube

There was a conflict somewhere between PlusKit plugin - TopBox - uTube Video stack.

What solved the problem was moving a @import (PlusKit) of other items - not related to the TopBox or uTube Video Stack - from the left side of the page to the right side of the page! Made Explorer happy.

So… conclusion - loading content on a page differently - might solve a problem…

A-Menu upgrade (out now)

The A-Menu (Another Menu) for the FreeStack theme (RELEASE)

The update has been pushed to sparkle. All users will get their A-Menu Plus stack updated via sparkle.
Important - read the text below. You’ll have to make one adjustment to the menu to make to make it work exactely like before.
Choose the default-value. Experiment with the other settings!

amenufix

An update is just around the corner - with lots of improvements making it possible to create a new kind of layout for the menu.
I’ve added a lot of feature request to this upgrade - and rearranged the InfoPane.

One little think… I wanted to add a feature allowing you to style the menu header, menu footer and move the header & footer inside or outside the menu styling. But to make it work - all users using the A-Menu in their FreeStack project - will have to go to the Info Pane (HUD) and make choice what to hide, show or style. It was the - only way - I could add this feature. Sorry for the inconvenience - but this has been #1 feature request and I think it’s a good feature and well worth the extra click you’ll need to make it work alright.

I’ve really put hours into this upgrade - but as always - it’s a free upgrade to all who have bought the stack prev.

What's next

FlexGrid

Next in the lines of upgrade : The FlexGrid.

I’m still thinking if it’s a good idea adding sparkle. Adding sparkle - I’ll have to change the ID and that means you’ll double the number of stacks for a while - till you get all your old not sparkle stacks exchanged with the new ones. I’m thinking… for some it will be quite a job - because the FlexGrid stacks are used in many projects and on many pages.

The FlexGrid stacks works with most stacks. A few stacks uses a CSS reset which conflicts with the FlexGrid stacks. I’m working on this matter.
The problem can be solved by removing one css line in the themes that doesn’t work. Not optimal - but a solution. See the FlexGrid stacks for a temp. solution.

The next question: When?
In a 3-4 weeks. I dare not promise too much.

Upgrading to a sparkle stack

Upgrading your website with a stack with sparkle

Adding sparkle to the stacks - I have to change the ID of the stack!
When installing you will have two almost identical stacks in your stacks library.
I can’t do nothing about that - it’s the only way for me to do it.
And Sparkle does make things easier in the future.
I will not have to ask you to manually update the stacks!

How to move the content… slowly and securely.
1. backup your project (also a good idea backup your stacks from time to time)
2. open your rapidweaver project file
3. find the page with the stack you want to ‘upgrade’
4. place the new stack above or below the old stack
5. take a screenshot of the settings (apple + shift + 4)
6. open the screenshot
7. retype all the settings in the new stack.
8. delete the old stack - keep the new.
9. test your website - make sure everything looks alright

This is how I do.

RapidImageMix stack

RapidImageMix stack for Stacks 2 Release

Really should have been a scaled down version of the ImageLayout stack - but it now has a life of it’s own.
Perfect when you don’t need all the advanced features of the ImageLayout stack.

Mix (layer) images within a stack page - up to 4 images (ImageLayout stack has 10 image slots)

A great stack to create headers.
Add color - a transparent noise image (see the free Noise & Dust stack) - add a gradient
and you got a good looking unique header. Or just a good looking frame for your content.

Sparkle

Sparkle - auto stacks update

Working my way through implementing Sparkle into the stacks…

Sparkle has been added to the following stacks:
• ButtonAlien stack
• ResourceButtonMaker stack
• ImageLayout stack

• A-Menu Plus replaces A-Menu 1 and 2.
The features of the A-Menu 1 and 2 has combined into one stack - the A-Menu Plus

11.03.2012
• ColorStore stack

Adding sparkle to the stacks I’ve had to make some changes… I had to create new stacks with this feature.
New stacks means you’ll have two versions… It will leave your stacks collection with an extra DeFliGra group… and I’m sorry for that! I’ll make it up to ya.

I have one person I would like to thanx… he created a Spakle manual even I could understand!
The friendly stacks developer… theme developer and just plain old fashioned kind - Will Woodgate. Thank you!

New shop solution

New shop solution

I have had a good time with the RapidCart plugin. It’s really great - and easy to use. Still use for some customers.

But I needed to buy myself some time handling the incomming orders - and especially the stacks updates.
I believe this feature is comming to RapidCart….

So I’ve impelemented CartLoom - to handle things for me. And it’s been really easy - so far.
Kind of a standard shop solution among both Stack and Theme developers.

Release: ImageLayout stack

ImageLayout

New Layout Stack released… use the ImageLayout stack when you need to spice up your theme!

This is - if I may say - one of the most useful stacks I’ve created.

• Layer images - up to 10 images (might feel like overkill - but you never know)
• Allows you to work with both static elements (normal stacks way) and fixed stacks.

The fixed option is really cool. I mean not just cool - but really cool!
Ever wanted to place a stack acording to the window and not the theme.
Or that you could create a nice bottom bare with images, text, links ?

Take a look at the demo guys and dolls.

Release GridBoard stacks

Cool new GridBoard stack for Stacks 2 Release

Might not look like a revolution… but it’s got some hard to achieve functionality behind the scene… like equal height for all columns.
Try searching for equal columns in google… you’ll see why. CSS ain’t perfect - but with a little help from good oooold HTML… hurra!

RapidWeaver and the Stacks 2 by YourHead software makes Rapid Layout much easier.

Take a look at the beauty - click here.

Stacks II has arrived

Stacks 1 was a little revolution for all us RapidWeavers. It changed everything… in all the websites I create today the Stacks plugin is my no. 1 choice for almost every page… when I sometimes try one of the other great plugins - I often find myself thinking… if only I could use this or that stack!

Stacks 2 has been long in the making. It’s here - and it’s great. We have already seen some of the potential of the new Stacks 2 API and we have seen a few new cool ‘Stacks 2 Only’ from some of the top stacks developers.

I have one wish for Stacks… in the future. Being able to change settings in one window and preview the changes instantly. But that’s not really a Stacks thing… it’s a RapidWeaver thing. That would be my main wish for RapidWeaver 6… the best weaver applications for the Mac. RapidWeaver by Realmac + Stacks by YourHead = one of the best and (important) fastes WebLayout applications for the best computer in the world - the Mac!

My name is DeFliGra. I’m a Rapid Stack’o’holic. I admit it.
